PURELL® Green Certified Hand Sanitizer is First Hand Sanitizer to be Certified by ECOLOGO

In 2010, GOJO launched its PURELL® Green Certified Hand Sanitizer and became the world's first hand sanitizer to be certified by ECOLOGO™, North America's most established multi-attribute environmental leadership standard and certification mark. ECOLOGO Certified products, services, and packaging are certified for reduced environmental impact. They are voluntary, multi-attribute, life cycle-based environmental certifications that indicate a product has undergone rigorous scientific testing, exhaustive auditing, or both, to prove its compliance with stringent, third-party, environmental performance standards. For U.S. markets, PURELL® Green Certified Instant Hand Sanitizer, along with GOJO® Green Certified Foam, and GOJO® Lotion Hand Cleaners met the standards of ECOLOGO to become the world's first, and now largest, green certified instant hand sanitizer and foam soap portfolio.

GOJO Becomes a WBENC-Certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE)

In 2020, GOJO was certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). The WBENC is the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the U.S. and a leading advocate for women business owners and entrepreneurs. WBENC Certification validates that a business is at least 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. This certification aligns with GOJO Values and its commitment to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.

GOJO Receives Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold with a Platinum Material Health Rating

In 2020, over 350 global SKUs connected to PURELL® hand sanitizer and PURELL® Brand HEALTHY SOAP® with CLEAN RELEASE™ Technology achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold with a Platinum level Material Health rating, the highest material health rating possible.

GOJO Honored by the Ethical Corporation as a Finalist for Two Awards

In 2018, the Ethical Corporation honored GOJO as an award finalist in two categories, Innovation of the Year and the Responsible Business of the Year. PURELL® SURFACE Disinfectant Voted Product of the Year 2018

In 2018, PURELL® Surface Disinfectant was named Product of the Year in the Home Cleaning Category. Product of the Year is the world’s largest consumer-voted award for product innovation. Each year, Product of the Year takes votes for the consumer products launched in the previous year that demonstrate advancement within their industry.

GOJO Honored with United Way: Spirit Award 2018

GOJO received the 2018 Spirit of Caring Award, the United Way’s highest corporate honor. The Spirit of Caring Award is presented annually to the company that best embodies United Way’s call to action. GOJO supported United Way’s 100th anniversary as a Red Feather Centennial Sponsor, and in 2018, GOJO sponsored Sam Salem Community Learning Center for the Page It Forward, Stuff the Bus, and Holiday Snack Pack drives, ensuring that every student in that school received bags full of free books, school supplies, and healthy snacks.

GOJO Awarded the 2017 EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award for PURELL® Surface Spray

GOJO was recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer for launching three product lines and 20 unique items, including PURELL® Surface Sprays, which are the first and only Design for the Environment (DfE) Antimicrobials Pilot labeled product with an ethanol active ingredient. In the latter half of 2016, GOJO delivered 40,000 samples and 50,000 brochures to end users. These samples and materials prominently featured information about DfE. GOJO also developed educational and promotional tools and a training program about Safer Choice/DfE for stakeholders, including distributor sales representatives.

GOJO Receives U.S. EPA - Design for the Environment (DfE) for its PURELL Surface Spray

In 2016, GOJO launched PURELL Surface Disinfecting and Sanitizing Sprays which earned the Design for the Environment (DfE) certification. At the time, of the 3,000 EPA-registered surface disinfectants and sanitizers, fewer than 100 had the EPA’s Category IV lowest toxicity rating, and of those, fewer than 10 had the EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) Certification. Design for the Environment (DfE) is part of the EPA's Safer Choice program aimed at "helping consumers, businesses, and purchasers find products that perform well and are safer for human health and the environment." As part of the Design for the Environment program, the EPA evaluates every ingredient against a stringent set of health and environmental criteria from a chemical perspective.

GOJO® Mild Foam Hand Wash Receives EU Ecolabel Certification

EU Ecolabel is a voluntary program, established in 1992 to encourage businesses to market products and services that are kinder to the environment. The EU Ecolabel is the official environmental label in the United Kingdom and the European Union. In 2015, GOJO® Mild Foam Hand Wash Fragrance Free was assessed against competitive soaps and is one of the few to be awarded an EU Ecolabel license and the honor of carrying the Flower icon.

GOJO® Green Certified Foam Hand, Hair & Body Wash Receives Global GreenTag Certification

In 2014, GOJO® Green Certified Foam Hand, Hair & Body Wash received the Bronze-level GreenTag Certification from Global GreenTag. Global GreenTag is one of the world's most robust, trusted and widely recognized ecolabels. It is an independent, third-party, product rating and certification program, based on life cycle assessment (LCA). The Global GreenTag Ecolabelling program uses scientific assessments and ISO-compliant Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), along with a variety of reporting techniques to ensure product qualification and transparency.

PURELL® Advanced Green Certified Hand Sanitizer earns ABNT Ecolabel Certification in Brazil

In 2013, GOJO® earned certification in Brazil for its PURELL® Advanced Green Certified Hand Sanitizer. ABNT Ecolabel is a life cycle-based ecolabel that is a voluntary method of environmental performance certification and labeling for products and services in Brazil.

GOJO Among the First 11 Companies Approved to Use USDA Bio-Preferred Label on Certified Biobased Products

In 2011, PURELL® Green Certified Instant Hand Sanitizer was chosen by the USDA as a featured product of the USDA Bio-Preferred Label Program, making GOJO among the first 11 companies approved to use the federal agency's new product label on certified biobased products. The USDA Bio-Preferred Label Program recognizes products that have been independently certified to meet USDA Bio-Preferred program standards for biobased content.
