When the signs of the pandemic first became apparent, GOJO immediately began increasing production at its manufacturing facilities. By March it became clear that prioritising distribution would be necessary on key products, despite record breaking production levels, to ensure hospitals, first responders, and critical infrastructure providers could access the products they needed.

Like many others in manufacturing industries, GOJO faced component issues, meaning that much-needed alcohol-based hand rubs and soaps could not be bottled as fast as they were produced.

To combat this issue, a number of alternate, temporary packages were introduced. These packages contain the same great formulations that people love to use, but are presented in slightly different formats, which are easier and quicker to source in the current climate. Using 100mL oval bottles, and 500mL round bottles, rather than the iconic square packaging, has allowed GOJO to bring PURELL® Advanced Hygienic Hand Rub to many more end-users than would otherwise have been possible.
