For the Well Being of the World
At GOJO, sustainability is both our legacy and a commitment to the future. The GOJO Purpose, Saving Lives and Making Life Better Through Well-Being Solutions, drives this ongoing commitment. It always has.
GOJO founders Goldie and Jerry Lippman worked in sustainable ways long before it was a mainstream concept. For instance, in 1946 they invented a safer, gentler alternative to the harsh and carcinogenic chemicals used by factory workers to clean hands. In 1952, the Lippmans developed and patented the world’s first portion-controlled dispenser to cut product waste. It was made, in part, from recycled components.
Our founders instilled a culture of practicality, resourcefulness, perseverance, and social awareness – qualities which translate to a concern for people and the environment. This legacy persists today at our family-owned company, where sustainability principles are carried forth through our commitment to the three interconnected domains of sustainability:
-
Social - Enhancing people's quality of life and reducing risks to health and well-being
-
Environmental - Increasing the positive impact and reducing the negative impact on our ecosystem
-
Economic - Building economic strength and prosperity for GOJO and our stakeholders
Today, sustainability strategies are integral to our success. From the way business is conducted to the products and programs brought to market, we continuously develop innovative, scientifically superior solutions in support of your sustainability journey and our own.
In 2010, GOJO declared sustainability goals for reductions in water usage, solid waste and greenhouse gases. While we already touch billions, we strive to bring well being to one billion people every day by 2020. We also launched PURELL® Green Certified Instant Hand Sanitiser in 2010. As the world's first green certified hand sanitiser*, PURELL Green joined GOJO GREEN HYGIENE™ Solutions, our portfolio of green certified hand hygiene solutions and programs.
We continue to explore new ways to implement sustainability strategies by innovating industry-leading skin care products that promote the well-being of people and the planet.
Our commitment goes deeper than the products we bring to market. We’ve pioneered Sustainable Ways of Working (SWOW)SM to bring sustainability thinking into everything we do. Our people, our products, our processes and our company are all here for The Well-Being of the World.
