Our Commitment to Water Sustainability
 |
According to the World Water Council, “While the world's population tripled in the 20th century, the use of renewable water resources has grown six-fold. Within the next fifty years, the world population will increase by another 40 to 50%. This population growth – coupled with industrialisation and urbanisation – will result in an increasing demand for water and will have serious consequences on the environment.” |
At GOJO, we recognise water as a precious, but finite global resource. Billions of gallons are used daily to grow crops and sustain lives. Water is also critical to our delivery of health and well-being to the world, which makes us passionate about preserving this invaluable resource. That’s why we’ve made a serious commitment to water sustainability and have identified our own water usage as a target for reduction.
The GOJO Water Sustainability Goal
Our goal at GOJO is to reduce water usage throughout our operations by 30% relative to the 2010 per use rate, by 2015.
First Steps
While the effort is still relatively new, GOJO has already been able to reduce total wastewater to the drain in the production process by 5% while maintaining the highest quality standards through such strategies as:
- Reducing cycle time on our drum and bucket washer
- Reusing water treated in our reverse osmosis system for floor scrubbers
- Making technical improvements to our reverse osmosis system for increased efficiency
- Modifying our cleaning and sanitisation practices to reduce water output while effectively sanitising equipment
