Through community sustainability, we support in active ways the health and well-being of others within our areas of influence. Our most visible well-being solutions are the scientifically advanced hand hygiene and skin care products we offer. In inventing PURELL® Instant Hand Sanitiser and the hand sanitising product category, GOJO made major strides in community sustainability by helping to safeguard the health of millions of people in the communities in which we operate, and around the world.
Partnerships in Community Sustainability
GOJO advances community sustainability as an organisation and in partnership with others through efforts including:
Job support for the visually impaired - We're pleased to partner with Travis Association for the Blind, in Austin, Texas. With Travis, a non-profit organization which provides employment for the visually impaired, GOJO manufactures and markets its SKILCRAFT® brand of instant hand sanitizer. This relationship allows us to create employment opportunities for the blind, while expanding the reach of our well-being solutions to advance community sustainability.
Direct financial support - We proudly donate to public health-related issues, community agencies, educational institutions and other non-profit organisations that share our vision for a better tomorrow. Furthermore, GOJO supports the concept of turning sustainability into profitable business practices through membership in E4S (Entrepreneurs for Sustainability). This dynamic northeast Ohio non-profit organisation brings together inspired entrepreneurial leaders and change agents from all sectors. E4S serves individuals, organisations and networks committed to implementing sustainable business practices that will drive new business opportunities and create a sustainable regional economy.
Donation of our products - The American Red Cross has received donations of PURELL Instant Hand Sanitiser from GOJO during such times of natural disaster as the Gulf Coast oil spill cleanup and the 2011 earthquake recovery effort in Japan. The American Red Cross awarded GOJO the Circle of Humanitarian Award in recognition of the donation of nearly a million dollars in hand hygiene products. This award honors companies and individuals whose contributions provide lifesaving support through Red Cross programs.
Donation of meeting space - We're happy to be able to periodically make the GOJO corporate headquarters in downtown Akron available free of rent for worthwhile community events and causes.
Encouragement of the participation of our people - Many GOJO employees donate their time and effort to make a difference in the community. Additionally, many of our leaders have taken advisory roles with local universities and civic organisations. The passion of our people for contributing to society in ways that match their talents is one hallmark of community sustainability.
